Jeff Tropf

By Chuck Krafft

Jeff Tropf had a great basketball career at Holt High School and at Central Michigan University.

He is Holt High School’s career leading scorer with 1550 points; he averaged 23.5 points per game.  He was named All-State his junior and senior years.  His senior year, his Holt Rams were the Class B Runner-Up in the State Tournament.

He played briefly at Michigan State University; he left there after one semester in the wake of a controversy not of his making.  After a brief stay at another college, he decided to try out for the Central Michigan basketball team.  At the time, Central Michigan was a powerhouse in the Mid-American Conference and sent a number of players to the NBA.

He also excelled at Central Michigan as he was first team All-MAC with a 17.3 scoring average.  He led the MAC with 11 rebounds per game.  He was selected as Team MVP one year and had an excellent 55% shooting percentage.

Because of injuries, after he was drafted by the Portland Trailblazers, he never was able to play in the NBA.

He has fond memories of his career.  He thanked his family and noted that he also played on a great football team.
