By Chuck Krafft
Lindsay
Bowen is one of the finest female basketball players and possibly the finest
female shooter the Lansing Area has ever produced.
In her
career at Dansville, she was Class C All-State for all four years. She scored 2577 points and is the fifth leading
scorer in Michigan history. She was
runner-up for Miss Basketball and Michigan’s Player of the Year as a
Senior. She was named to the All-State
Dream Team twice.
She went on
to a successful career at Michigan State University. She is the fourth leading career scorer in MSU
history. She was an All-Big Ten player
for four years. She had an amazing three
point shot.
Ms. Bowen
thanked the Hall for inducting her and thanked her parents and family for their
support and guidance. She said that playing
sports with her brother, Todd made her tougher, which helped a great deal.
She told of
a time that Coach Thorburn, her basketball coach at Dansville had a heart to
heart talk with her. He convinced her
not to simply settle for being the best player in her current group, but to
strive to become as good as she could be so she could advance to the next
level.
Her softball
coach helped her to learn patience which is a huge benefit to her in her
coaching career.
Her advice
to the crowd was “Dream big!! Always
dream big!!”
